Joni Hedinger was born in 1992 in Switzerland and lives in Rapperswil SG. Trained as a carpenter, he discovered his passion for photography—partly through Instagram, where around 140,000 people follow his work. Since 2018, he has been working as a freelance photographer and videographer. In 2020, he began focusing more on artistic projects alongside his commercial work, with his images regularly featured in exhibitions and magazines. While his style was initially shaped by Instagram, it has evolved significantly, though mountains remain at the heart of his photography.

As a member of the Swiss photography collective The Alpinists, Joni captivates audiences with striking mountain imagery. He is also co-author of the photography hiking books Lost in the Alps and Lost in the Alps 2, which brought success to him and ten other photographers beyond Instagram.
